Keyword Search is useful when you want to locate articles
and Internet sites based on your own combination of key words and
phrases. Using the Keyword Terms, look up articles relating to the
presidential election 2000.
- Select the Quick Search tab and then select the
Keyword option.

- When conducting a Keyword Search, articles can be returned by
relevance or date order. Internet sites are returned in alphabetical
order. Select to return articles in date order to find information
more relevant to the current election.
Subject Headings Search is useful when you have a specific
research topic in mind and you want to use a subject index to quickly
locate articles related to that topic. All articles in the SIRS
Knowledge Source database are indexed primarily according to Library
of Congress Subject Headings.
Select the Quick Search tab and then select the Subject
Headings option.

A list of the subject headings that match your search are
returned. Either:
- Select an individual subject heading.
- Check the boxes next to each subject heading of interest.
- Choose Select All and then select View Checked
Subjects to display the list of full-text articles indexed
within each of those subject headings.
