  Student Activities: Georgia Standards
In January, a dream of millions of Americans will be fulfilled. A day after celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Barack Hussein Obama will be inaugurated as our first African American President on January 20.

Explore the life and work of these pioneers inside SIRS Researcher, with activities linked to your state standards.

To extend the inaugaration theme to younger researchers, ask learners to choose one topic or issue that will be in the news during the first 180 days of the Obama administration. You can rely on SIRS Discoverer to provide the necessary content and context to help students explore their issues in-depth.

Don't miss our newest video series: Advising President Obama, Involving Students in 21st Century Learning.

SIRS Interactive Citizenship also offers a hands-on set of essential questions for critical thinking to assist students in researching the pros and cons of the leading issues of 2009 and beyond.

Your SIRS Researcher and SIRS Discoverer subscriptions provide access to relevant, credible information that's been carefully selected by our SIRS editorial staff.

When learners use SIRS, they only receive best-of content designed to support student research, study, and homework in key curricula subjects.

To maximize research time, be sure to take full advantage of our built-in standards searching capability. Put simply, this tool makes it easy for you to track down ProQuest content that's directly linked to state and national learning standards. You'll find content that can be applied to each and every standard node with a click of your mouse.

Best of all, it's easy! Take a few minutes to see standards searching in action via our January 2008 video podcast. (It's back by popular demand!)

A PowerPoint presentation is also available to help train others on how to use this one-of-a-kind research tool.
