Resource #2:
Research Lesson Plans
This Month & Beyond
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) is celebrated in May to commemorate the contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in the United States. ProQuest has created a BookCart learning activity to help your students learn more about the contributions of Asian Americans: "Asian Pacific Heritage Month."
Our editors create hands-on research lesson plans and standards-linked BookCarts every month of the school year. Be sure you're signed up to receive ProQuest Teachable Moments in addition to your eLibrary newsletter.
Archives of back issues in full webpage format are available.
Our Educator Tools page also archives these lessons going back several years. It's a must-bookmark! Feel free to repurpose any and all of our activities for use in your classroom or library.
Plus, our librarian-teacher collaboration guide makes it easy for staffers to work together to bring eLibrary resources into any learning activity.

Resource #6:
Lesson Planning Tools
BookCarts, Essentials, by Standards
eLibrary is much more than an in-depth research tool. It also offers a set of exclusive tools and resources that make lesson planning a joy.
Whether you're looking for a tool to organize and augment your lesson plans (BookCarts), seeking editor-selected content for major topics and issues of research interest (Essentials), or want to find timely articles or multimedia resources directly applicable to your state (or national) learning benchmarks (by Standards), eLibrary is here to help.
eLibrary BookCarts: BookCarts provide point-and-click templates for building standards- and Lexile-correlated reading lists, project pages, lesson plans, and assessments with online content.
Educators can incorporate links to relevant publications, articles, photos, maps, multimedia files, and websites from online sources or personal favorite weblinks. BookCarts and QuizCarts can be easily shared by teachers in the same school or any school in the district.
Watch a short video introduction, then get started making 'Carts today using our 800+ models.
ProQuest Essentials: These editor-created "smart content" pages highlight content from within eLibrary's 60 million documents, 5 million images, and 50,000 websites.
Essentials (video overview) are mapped to specific queries and appear as the first result. They're created by our editors based on the most popular queries and most studied subjects. This means what users need first, they see first—so they spend less time searching and more time learning.
To find all current ProQuest Essentials, click Publications and look under "ProQuest Essentials" in the alphabetical listing.
Search by Standards: This special search method gives educators the ability to tie content to
curriculum, classroom assignments, and learning standards.
Don't waste your time searching the open web with Google; eLibrary's built-in Search by Standards tool (video @ 5:25) is up-to-date, and makes it easy to select your location, then a specific standards set, and select each learning benchmark to find related resources.
To start a standards search, click Advanced Search. At the bottom, click the Search National and State Standards link.
Resource #7:
Spread the Word

Here's a full list of everything the kit has to offer; be sure to tap this kit prior to the start of the new school year.
