Timely ProQuest Lesson Plan Terrorism and Airline Safety The incident aboard Northwest Airlines flight 253 on Christmas day is now being called an attempted act of terrorism. An airline passenger claiming to have ties to Al Qaeda was subdued after he tried to ignite a powdery substance capable of exploding and destroying the plane just before it landed in Detroit.Learning Activity What is working and what isn't working in the Homeland Security system for airline safety? What could or should have been done to prevent this from happening? What new technologies and procedures must be implemented to ensure airline safety both on international and domestic flights? Students should create a report of at least 150 words, or a presentation of at least seven slides (links to models provided at end of activity) that cites at least three resources. Students should address the following essential questions for critical thinking (you can create or substitute others):

Notification of Publication Black Studies Solutions @ ProQuest Black Studies Center and the Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience have been updated with new key resources and full-text readings. These additions substantially increase the growing collection of full-text resources to accompany and extend research on topics relevant to black studies. In addition, periodical content has been added to the International Index to Black Periodicals, including current A&I records and full-text articles. Black Abolitionist Papers now includes additional content. All five volumes of the printed series, Black Abolitionist Papers, published by the University of North Carolina Press, have been integrated into the resource. These five substantial volumes of commentary and research were prepared and edited by a team of scholars headed by Dr. Peter Ripley, director of the Black Abolitionist Papers project. These commentaries are included in their entirety and provide the definitive, scholarly analysis of the acclaimed primary document collection. Comprehensive introductions offer overviews of the activities, controversies, events, and persons engaged in each major geographic area in the collection: the British Isles, Canada, and the United States. Extensive headnotes and footnotes are provided for selected primary documents. The HistoryMakers is now available as a standalone collection, in addition to its modular version for Black Studies Center customers. The separate interface is particularly useful for public libraries and community colleges that require contemporary, relevant, and fresh content in video format for the teaching and study of timely African American history, politics, arts, culture, and business. ![]() Grab this funding feed for your webpage!
