SIRS Discoverer®

SIRS Discoverer Louis Braille created the Braille alphabet, a series of raised dots that allows blind people to "read" with their fingers. In doing so, Braille greatly improved life for the blind. January 4, 2009 is the 200th anniversary of Braille's birth. The United States is honoring the renowned inventor with a commemorative silver dollar.

In 1821, at the age of 12, Louis Braille began developing a code that would help blind people to read. How old was Braille when he invented the Braille alphabet?
