Holiday Focus: The Day of the Child (Honduras)
On September 10, Hondurans celebrate the Day of the Child. Although it isn't an official holiday, it is celebrated throughout the country. It is a time for adults to honor the nation's children and the hope they represent for the future. Children receive special treats at school and play a variety of games, the most exciting of which is the breaking of a pinata. On this day, children are congratulated by everyone they meet.
