What's special about the Curriculum Edition for my students and teachers?

eLibrary Curriculum Edition provides two additional learning resources collections that support research activities in core curriculum areas that assign the most research activities: History Study Center and ProQuest Learning: Literature. It's a significant way for teachers and student to...
Get More World-Class Resources: Depending on the topic, one search can provide significant and unique results from three great resources at the same time. Type "William Shakespeare" in the Search box. Note that the Results list is topped with three tabs: General, History, and Literature. The General tab is the default and yields eLibrary content. The History tab yields results from History Study center and the Literature tab yields results from ProQuest Learning: Literature.

Save Time Searching: Students and teachers can get all they need in one search: reference, audio-video, multimedia, maps, websites, transcripts, magazines, newspapers, study units, reviews. Time saved searching can be reinvested in building achievement in essential skills.

Reduce Student Frustration and Google: When students have to decide on which of five databases that they need to use and then how to search and navigate them, most will opt for the easiest, or an encyclopedia, or worst yet, Google. Does providing more database resources translate into better reports and presentations? Do students really remember all that great training you provided in which database is best for what subject area when it comes to crunch time?

Use BookCarts to Collect the Best Resources: BookCarts can include History Study Center durable links, ProQuest Learning Literature durable links, librarian and teacher website Favorites links, and any local webpage durable links in the Website section. You and your teachers can build the best collection of resources for students with this amazing collaboration tool.

Looking for a way to assess students easily and score automatically?

QuizCarts are a great way for teachers to assess student knowledge of content before they start the formal research process. This is especially important when a topic/issue has not already been thoroughly introduced through the textbook or classroom discussion.

Teachers can create a multiple choice test of up to ten items and instruct students to use one of the resources such as an encyclopedia to get the necessary background that ensures a successful mini-research activity. What's great about this system is that students can take the quiz within a BookCart and email the answers to the teacher selected email address. Results are tallied automatically, saving teacher time and ensuring students are prepared for the research activity that will invest three to five class periods in learning or could be wasted.

The key to creating QuizCarts in BookCart Editor is to first select the Product box option, Quizzes, instead of the default (BookCart) when you're creating a new BookCart/QuizCart.

You must also include the appropriate email address of the teacher or librarian in the Email box and then check the box at the bottom Show Reading/Websites before Quiz. (Details.)

ProQuest has several models that you can review to prepare you for creating your own QuizCart collection. First, logon to your eLibrary version's Teacher Edition (links here).

Click the BookCart Admin link at the top right, select the ProQuest Carts tab, then click BookCarts with Quizzes folder. Explore by clicking on a BookCart/QuizCart title of interest.
